Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is a leading international center for biomedical research, communication, and education. Founded in 1890, its scientists have made significant contributions to the fields of cancer, neuroscience, plant biology, and quantitative biology. And throughout its history, CSHL has been a crossroads for the communication of new science, through conferences, courses, book and journal publishing, and – most recently – the creation of the preprint servers bioRxiv and medRxiv.
bioRxiv and medRxiv enable scientists to share the results of their work freely, internationally, and without the delays associated with peer review. Now hosting more than a quarter of a million manuscripts, and with more than 8 million readers each month, both servers use HighWire’s submission system and content hosting platforms.
